Online Dating Safety

Ever since the internet was invented, people met through blind dates, etc. If you are one of the millions that participate in the online dating scene, you should read up some more so you can make sure your session is a safe one. Many people don’t think when they are talking with someone they met on an online dating website and it can be pretty dangerous, especially if you just met the person. The first thing you should do is choose an online dating website that has a good reputation, there are so many out there that are scams and don’t look out for their members. A few that are reputable in my book are Match, eHarmony and True.com, they all are very courteous to their members and they look out for them. Anyone will tell you that talking on the internet is a hundred times easier then talking face to face, that’s just the way it is, but once the face to face comes along, it can get pretty tender so it’s important to get to know the person before you start meeting in person.
The first time you decide to go out on a date, always arrange to meet at a place mid way, therefore you don’t have to drive out of your way and neither does he or she. Another reason you shouldn’t give out your address right away is that you really don’t know them and that can be dangerous, especially if they are “crazy”, you really never know. Meeting in public places is always a plus also; being around other people also helps you in conversing because everyone else is. A very important tip that usually applies to woman more than men is let a good friend know where you are, just in case you are late or anything, this can help and she can drive over to your location and see if your alright. Now we all know that police are there for a reason and if something terrible happens then you can always go to the cops and let them know, but you really don’t want it to come down to that, just feel the connection out before you make any rash decisions.
The most important rule of thumb when engaging in an online dating session is always remain alert, most people will let their guard down and say something that they will regret, don’t let that happen. If you slip and tell the guy or girl where you live then they can potentially stalk you and that can get pretty bad. Before you let any of that information out, get to know him or her first. If you follow these simple tips, you will be fine and there will be absolutely no problems, unless you really find a rare one. Good luck!
